History

We are narrators of our school’s history story.
At Gomer, we love to teach and our children love to learn about History. We believe that through high quality history lessons we can inspire children in their curiosity and fascination to want to know more about the past and to think and act like historians.
Our children will love talking to you about what they have learned, whether it is about Mary Anning and her impact on our understanding of dinosaurs, how Victorians have influenced our Christmases, why Nelson is so important in our area or who was responsible for the Titanic disaster.
Find out more by looking at our Subject Portfolio which tells you about the Intention, Implementation and Impact of our History Curriculum.
Our Long Term Plan with details of the history topics we cover and how this builds progression in knowledge and vocabulary. We have also included here an overview of how children make progress in their Disciplinary Knowledge (how children learn to be historians!). Come and visit our school to find out more!

For each subject we now have Subject Champions who share their voices and ideas with school leaders.

The Subject Champions for History are:

  • Dolphins – Tahlia
  • Seals – Sebastian
  • Butterflies – Arnon
  • Bumblebees – Rome

We love teaching History at Gomer Infant School and the children love to learn about it!
