The children in Year 2 were very excited and enthusiastic about their role as planet protectors. We found out about taking care of our environment by not dropping rubbish, not wasting resources and by recycling materials carefully. We learnt 3 very important words: REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE. As part of Year 2’s topic this term, the pupils are learning about Remembrance day. We were lucky to have a special guest, Mr. Nolan, previously our Site Manager came along and held an assembly to talk to the children about his time spent in the Army as a Warrant Officer Class 1 and the
Year 2 had a fun learning time in the forest. We followed the route to the forest using an aerial photograph of our school. We used our mapping skills to find things that were hidden in the forest. We gave our partners instructions to follow and tried to use the compass directions to help us. In
Year 2 this term have been learning how to improve their instructional writing by using adverbs and commands. This was based on the story ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ and children created instructions on how to make sweets. Parents were invited after school to come and try the sweets and the children shared their written
During the Autumn term, Year 2 have learnt how to play various rhythms on the African drums. We also learnt about dynamics and played both loudly and softly. We enjoyed our parents coming to watch and listen to our concert.
This year, Year 2 Christmas carol concert was ‘A miracle in town’. All the children and staff worked very hard to be able to give an amazing performance on the day. Thank you to all the relatives that came to watch the children perform.
Year 2 children discovered a letter from a dragon and dragon eggs in our first forest learning this term! The children created nests to protect and hold dragons eggs.
We have been making 2 digit numbers and then learning to use the greater than and less than signs to compare them. We are trying hard to use the correct symbols in our number sentences and reading them using the correct language.
This term Year 2 have started to learn to play the drums and percussion with the help of the Hampshire Music Service! Below are pictures and video of Badgers class enjoying their second lesson.
As part of our space topic this term, Year 2 children had a visit from the Space Dome. The dome allows a whole class to view planets and stars at 360 degree viewing, giving children a different learning experience. Everyone had a great morning with lots of learning!
