To celebrate World Book Day, Year R children were invited to bring in a potato to decorate in the style of the book ‘Supertato’ by Sue Hendra. Here are some of the amazing creations!

Twelve of our Year R children were selected to represent Gomer at a Racket and Tennis skills festival at Alverstoke Tennis club in March. The children competed against teams from other local infant schools on a lovely sunny afternoon. A big thank you to those parents who stayed to help with the event!
This week the children had a teamwork project and worked with a partner to design and create a picnic bag. Today the children tested their picnic bags on a journey around the school grounds looking out for clues.
In our forest learning for this week, we completed a team building exercise. The children supported each other in moving a hoop over and through each other while holding hands and not breaking the link. We also had a walk through the forest and used our 5 senses to see how the forest has changed
This morning Year R pupils performed to their families their carol concert. The performance was well attended and the children enjoyed singing their songs to everyone. Thank you to all the parents for supplying the wonderful costumes for the children to wear today.

It was a rather wet weather start to the Year R water fun day on Wednesday 19th July 2017 but this did not stop the fun! All the children, Year R staff and volunteers spent the morning in the paddle pool, spraying each other and aiming water bombs. As you can see from the pictures the
Year R held their mini -Olympics on Monday 17th and Tuesday 18th July 2017. The teams were split into countries, Hedgehog snails group represented USA, Squirrels snails group represented India, Hedgehogs spiders group represented Spain, Squirrels spiders group represented Australia, Hedgehogs ladybirds group represented China and Squirrels ladybirds group represented Brazil. As part of Year R new life topic this term, Year R went on a school trip to Longdown Activity Farm on Tuesday 28th March 2017. The children got to hold chicks, feed the pigs and goats and much more. Everyone including the adults had an amazing time.
