PoGo’s large fundraising event this term was ‘The Creature Teachers’. After a drink and snack the children were introduced to the many different types of animals and learnt lots of very interesting facts, whilst getting up close to creepy crawlies, reptiles, mammals and birds. This term in our science work we are going to be investigating the properties of materials. We have started learning some new words including transparent and opaque, absorbent and not absorbent to help describe the properties.
Twelve of our Year R children were selected to represent Gomer at a Racket and Tennis skills festival at Alverstoke Tennis club in March. The children competed against teams from other local infant schools on a lovely sunny afternoon. A big thank you to those parents who stayed to help with the event!
As part of our space topic this term, Year 2 children had a visit from the Space Dome. The dome allows a whole class to view planets and stars at 360 degree viewing, giving children a different learning experience. Everyone had a great morning with lots of learning!
We are working with Hampshire Cricket Board (HCB) to deliver cricket coaching to our children in year 2 for the first time. Through funding from a charity called Chance to Shine, HCB will help to develop fundamental skills in younger children and create a passion for the game of cricket at an early age. The
