Clubs and sports events

Premier League Primary Stars uses the appeal of the Premier League and professional football clubs to inspire children to learn, be active and develop important life skills.  Available to every primary school in England and Wales, it inspires girls and boys aged 5-11 in the classroom, the playground and on the sports field.  Teaching materials cover subjects from English and Maths to teamwork and PE, with free to download activity ideas, worksheets, lesson plans, fun assemblies and exclusive videos.  Learning is connected to the real world of sport to enthuse pupils when tackling challenging PSHE topics such as resilience, diversity, self-esteem and fair-play.  Professional football club staff work with teachers to deliver fun, educational sessions in a range of subjects within local partner schools.

Year 1 have an exciting opportunity to take part in the Premier League Stars project and will we be posting on our school blog some of their learning with Premier League Stars!

Racket and Tennis Skills Festival – Thursday 15th March 2018

Twelve of our Year R children were selected to represent Gomer at a Racket and Tennis skills festival at Alverstoke Tennis club in March.  The children competed against teams from    other local infant schools on a lovely sunny     afternoon.  A big thank you to those parents who stayed to help with the event!

Invasion games festival – Thursday 25th January 2018

Invasion games festival was hosted at Gomer Infant School.  11 children from Years 1 and 2 were chosen to represent the school at the festival.  They competed in year group teams, against 3 other schools, and participated in a range of games including hockey, basketball and  football.  Despite the cold weather outside, the children were determined to get involved and were very active!  All the children and staff enjoyed this event.  All the children involved were thrilled to have worked so well as part of a team and scored points during each game.  They achieved 2nd place overall and were awarded silver medals in assembly.

 After School Clubs

Art Club – available to all year groups.  Held on a Tuesday from 3.20 until 4.20pm, £44 for 11 sessions (£4.00 per session).  SPRING 2019 dates are: Jan: 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th Feb:   5th, 12th, 26th Mar: 5th, (not 12th), 19th, 26th April: 2nd 2019.  One payment of £44 due by Tuesday 18th December 2018 or two payments of £22 due by Tuesday 18th December 2018 & Tuesday 15th February 2019.  Cash or cheque payable to ‘Sue Evans’.  Please complete the form located on the letters tab if you would like your child to attend.

Chelsea football club – available to all year groups.  Held on a Tuesday from 3.30pm until 4.30pm, £54 for 12 sessions (£4.50 per session). Spring 2019 dates are: 8th, 15th, 22, 29th January, 5th, 12th, 26th February, 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th March and 2nd April 2019.  Please note there will be NO football club in February half term holidays.  Please book online at www.chelseasoccerschools.co.uk/soccerschools course code:  ASC-GIS-H-5.  For further details contact [email protected]  Please note that you can not book online on the day of the course.

Cookery – YEAR 2 ONLY. Wednesdays from 3.20 until 4.50pm – £30 for 5 sessions (£6.00 per session), includes all ingredients for children to bring their cooking home every week.  Cheques made payable to HCC.  Places are very limited.  Spring 1 2019 dates: 16th, 23rd, 30th January, 6th and 13th February 2019.  Please complete the form located on the letters tab if you would like your child to attend.

French club – available to all year groups.  Held on a Monday from 3.20pm until 4.15pm – £66 for 12 sessions (£5.50 per session, payable termly in advance).  From Monday 7th January 2019. The final session for this term will be Monday 1st April 2019. Pyjama Drama – available to Year 1 ONLY.  Thursdays at 3.20pm until 4.20pm – £27 for 6 sessions (£4.50 per session). SPRING 2019 dates start from 10th January 2019 until 14th February 2019.
