In October we met Jenny, who is a volunteer at the Fareham and Gosport Basics Bank to find out more about what we can do to help families in Gosport who do not have enough food to eat.  She told us that so far this year they have given 860 children in Gosport food and things to keep themselves clean.  She also told us that they do not have enough treats and special food to give the children at Christmas.

We would like to help by making a Reverse Advent Calendar. When you open a door to a chocolate or picture this year please think about giving something to the Food Bank as well so the children get some special Christmas food.  Each week in December we will collect different things.

Week 1 – from 3rd Dec Children’s Christmas sweets and biscuits
Week 2 – from 10th Dec Children’s cereals
Week 3 – from 17th Dec Blue top long-life milk and tinned food that children are likely to enjoy e.g. spaghetti hoops, beans ‘n’ sausages

It would be fantastic if every child at Gomer Infant School could bring one thing each week into school to help us to make our Reverse Advent Calendar.

This first week has been a tremendous success and as you can see from the photo we have already had a large number of items donated!  There is still time to bring in this week your donation of Christmas sweets and biscuits.
